HAPPY 65th BIRTHDAY CHRIS!!

Believe it or not, it was 65 years ago today when
John Henry Deighton made his entrance into the world. Just 15 years later, John Henry was making his performing debut, and 11 years after that, Chris Farlowe was celebrating his first number one in the hit parade with OOT!

Time has flown by, and though it is 39 years since the heady days of 1966, the Voice is as strong and distinctive as ever.
If you want to add your birthday wishes to ours, please leave a message in the
birthday forum..

THE BLUES
Friday 30th September - 1 of 7,  BBC2 (UK)

At last, a chance to see on terrestrial TV this highly praised seven part documentary exploring the history of the blues.

"Seven illuminating films about a musical genre that has influenced everything from rock 'n' roll to hip hop. Each programme is a very personal exploration of the blues by directors including Wim Wenders and Martin Scorsese. Think of it as a musical adventure..."

Chris sings '
Stormy Monday Blues' and is interviewed in next weeks instalment -  "Red, White & Blues", directed by Mike Figgis. It's on BBC2 on Friday 7th October at 11.35.

During the 1960s the UK saw an explosion of interest in jazz and folk music that led to a cross-fertilisation with blues. This programme contains many interviews and performances from artists like:  Eric Clapton, Eric Burdon, Peter Green, Stevie Winwood, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison and many others.

Don't miss it!!!

LONG JOHN BALDRY
JANUARY 12TH 1941 - JULY 21ST 2005

It is with great sadness that we have heard about the death of one of the 60s greatest legends and of course, Chris' dear friend, Long John Baldry

Of course Chris and LJ's association goes back a long way and only recently, they shared the stage on the Hitmakers tours with the Manfreds.  In the 60's the press and public sometimes confused their voices with each other and a CD compilation called 'Chris Farlowe vs Long John Baldry' (see discography for details) has been released!

Visit LJs site to read the hundreds of tributes posted there to this giant of a man with a talent to match.

HUNGARY FOR THE BLUES - LIVE

Chris has just released A NEW CD ... and it's LIVE with The Norman Beaker Band!

Many fans ask: "
Why doesn't Chris release a LIVE album again?" It's been ten years! since 'Lonesome Road' and many people have been asking for something similar, but maybe recorded abroad.

Chris' new album features 14 live tracks, 12 recorded in
Hungary in 2000 and 2 recorded in Germany in 2004.

Hear the audience (maybe yourself) scream with delight to classics like '
Tough on me, Tough on you', 'Stormy Monday' and Chris' revengeful rendition of 'Who's been sleeping in my bed'.

The CD also includes photos of
Chris, the Norman Beaker Band and Chris' manager Kris. There are also some strange ones included! Hmm

At the moment the CD is exclusively available through chrisfarlowe.co.uk and costs £13.99 including postage & packing.

Click the CD cover for full track listings and details.
Chris has kindly agreed to sign the first copies off the press, so be sure to order your copy  ASAP.
